  57. You missed my point.  You cited a story from "Amazing" magazine that was
  58. published in the early forties and I gave you examples of sightings that
  59. predate the forties.  Trying to analyze a sighting of over a century ago
  60. might be a waste of time.

  62. I'm guessing that you interpret the above case as being a lenticular
  63. cloud formation and that could very well be true.

  65. However, given (for just a minute or two) that UFOs are visiting metallic
  66. craft of some sort, that they sometimes appear in a disk-like
  67. configuration and that the phenomenon is possibly ancient (predates 1940
  68. at least), then obviously it is "predicted" that there should be at least
  69. be a sprinkling of reports of disks before 1940.  There are indeed some
  70. reports to meet that necessary condition.

  72. I'm certainly not trying to prove any particular hypothesis using ancient
  73. reports but simply showing that the phenomenon of unidentified 
  74. flying disks goes back further than some would have us believe.

  76. Here is another pre-1940 precedent that is more explicit.

  78. Feb. 22, 1922  Hubbell (Nebraska). William C. Lamb was follow-
  79. 0500           ing strange tracks when he heard a high-pitched sound
  80.                and saw a circular object intercepting starlight. It
  81.                became brilliantly lighted and landed in a hollow.
  82.                Soon afterword, a creature over 2.4 m tall was seen
  83.                flying from the direction where the object had landed.
  84.                It left tracks in the snow, which Lamb followed with-
